New for 2020: Britain's Malcolm Cooper , a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 50m three-position rifle (Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988), along with his early collaborators Dave Walls and Dave Gaig , changed the world of sniper and precision rifles forever. Today, Accuracy International, founded in 1978, remains true to its heritage and is currently introducing the new AX MKIII and AX 50 ELR rifles.
Accuracy International
Most recently, Accuracy International, a renowned British specialist, was awarded a contract to upgrade the German Army’s G22 sniper rifle to the .300 Winchester Magnum cartridge. The upgraded G22A2 sniper rifle was unveiled by Accuracy International in 2018. It is an all-weather, day/night AXE-style rifle with user customization and mission adaptability. The rifle features a full-length rail and a right-folding stock that folds over the bolt handle. The German Armed Forces have ordered 780 weapons to be converted by 2020.
AX MKIII - New Multi-Caliber Sniper Rifle
The latest sniper rifles, the AX MKIII and AX50 ELR models, were unveiled to the public for the first time by Accuracy International at the British Shooting Show in Birmingham, UK and were due to travel to Nuremberg, Germany for Enforce Tac. The modular, versatile AX MKIII multi-calibre sniper rifle is chambered as standard in .338 Lapua Magnum with optional calibre conversion kits and continues the success story of these battle-proven British ‘Sniper Rifles’, evolving from the AXMC and AXSR models. The new sniper rifle has also been tested to NATO requirements and can be adapted to suit a variety of roles. The AX MKIII features improved features in the receiver, ambidextrous 3-position safety and a free-standing AR-style interchangeable pistol grip. It also features an integral ARCA rail under the lightweight metal handguard for mounting on tripods. Speaking of tripods, the very expensive, ultra-lightweight carbon fiber models from American manufacturer Really Right Stuff (RRS) are very popular. The MKIII comes with the tried and true AI double-stack 10-round magazines.
AX50 ELR (Extreme Long Range) in .50 BMG
Want a little more? The powerful AX50 ELR (Extreme Long Range) in the base caliber .50 Browning Machine Gun (12.7x99mm) is also a multi-caliber sniper rifle that can be converted to .408 CheyTac and .375 CheyTac versions. Like the AX MKIII, the AX50 ELR offers upgraded parts and also features an ARCA rail for mounting on tripods. Even in these extremely powerful calibers, the magazine capacity is 10 rounds.
